Upgrade Windows Server 2016 to 2022

Cem Tuğrul April 8, 2025

I am using Jira DC 9.4 over 3 nodes windows servers 2016. I have to upgrade  only OS of servers to 2022.

My question is Can I just go windows serverupdate.exe (after stopping jira instance)

OR

Do I have to install new 2022 servers then go through installing Jira DC

Hi @Cem Tuğrul ,

application is platform indipendent so, in theory, you can just update your server without changing nothing on JIRA side. My suggestion is to test first this process on a test server.

Hope this helps,

Fabio

Hello Fabio,

Thx for your reply. I did not find any experience about this situation. But I guess that I can just go with serverupdate.exe not touching jira. I have planned on my test servers
