What is the recommended way of handling duplicate issues?

Hi!

I know that I can add a duplicate link and set the resolution to "Duplicate". But if the original isn't resolved within the same release, in my opinion the release note is not correct, because the problem itself is not solved until the original is solved.

Is it better to delete such duplicates? But if so, what for is the resolution "Duplicate"

Is there a recommondation how to work with such duplicates?

I would be very happy if you could help me out.

That's a matter of education - we make it clear to users that "duplicate" really does mean "logged somewhere else". We also exclude them from release notes.
