when we try to delete a comment (and sometimes when we add a comment) browser freezes and nothing happens. When we click "back" in the browser, the comment is deleted.

The "AjaxIssueEditAction" is not much to go on by itself but the full console error would help narrow this down a bit further, such as if there is an error code associated with the action, or what is being called when the error occured.
But Some additional checks to run here to narrow this down:
Is anything output to the jira logging when this occurs that gives additional context to the error
