Would Azure SQL or Managed Azure SQL be an approved DB?

David Burgess June 25, 2019

We are an Azure shop and would like to use the Azure SQL instance or Azure Managed SQL for Jira. Is this an approved DB? Also would Windows server 2019 be an approved OS?

Neither are officially listed in Supported Platforms, but both work fine.  I would recommend using ManagedSQL due to better performance.  The standard AzureSQL isn't really fast enough, based on our testing for clients running in Azure. Atlassian doesn't really state which operating system versions are supported. They only state "Windows" is supported, for example.  The main thing is to run a supported Java version.
