bamboo build question

I have been trying to figure out where I have bamboo configured incorrectly and i am hoping someone can help. we have bamboo, jira, and bitbucket all working together. we use plan branches and they are created when a new branch is created. when the dev commits code the bamboo plan fires off and builds. all good to that point. Now when the pull request is merged into the develop branch for a release that triggers every other feature branch to run a build and kills our bamboo agents. how do I keep the auto build process running on just feature branches during a commit and not have them all run when we merge a pull request into develop or master?
