bamboo run on ubuntu 18.04 because does not from my perspective

has anyone successfully got bamboo to install on ubuntu 18.04  .  thus far Atlassian support has not been much help.  seems like there is a dependency on java 8 jdk only,  and since that version is sunsetting the ppa is no longer available.  I mean is ubuntu just the wrong choice for bamboo?  or is bamboo wrong go to jenkins?

Bamboo is working perfectly on several Ubuntu installations I've got access to.

Could you explain what you have done differently to the installation docs?
