Jira Data Center 9.4.7
We have someone leaving the company and so I'm in the process of transferring ownership of his various Jira artifacts (Boards, Dashboards, Filters, Projects, Automation Rules)
For one of his Dashboards I'm getting this error when I try to transfer ownership:
I can't edit this Dashboard's shares to figure out how to remove that non-existent user (I think this has come from legacy where the user used to exist in one or more historical Jira User Directories but they no longer exist anymore)
Any ideas how I can get around this error and then successfully transfer ownership?
Found out how to do it:
Go to Dashboards > Manage Dashboards > Search (takes you to 'Search Dashboards')
Go into it
This should add it to your list of favourite dashboards; go to 'favourites on the left-hand menu and "Edit":
This will open the shares; the problematic Jira Account will be listed; simply delete it and then update the dashboard:
The ownership can then be successfully changed.
Did you already remove his profile? Or deactivate it ? If deleted you have to make a profile with that username and email to reestablish the ownership then change the ownership. Might have to add the remade profile into the projects as well to facilitate transfer. This confusion i have seen when filters ownership are not transferred first before the dashboard.

Yeah, it's a legacy Jira system that I've inherited and yes this account has since left the organisation.
I've actually found out how to do it (I posted an answer) so all's well with the world again :)
