Asset Management / hidden fields

Hello!

I created the asset management, and I’m very satisfied to use Insight, I have only one question (I was not able to find a solution with Google).

I would like to hide to standard users only one field, because I want to use this field only for tracking the license key of products.

I created a simple field, type Default and Type Value Textarea, but I was not able to understand how to have this field visible only to the Administrator Users.

What I have to do to give visibility of this field only to a specific group or to specific people?

Thank you very much for your time and for your support.

 Kind Regards,

 Luigi

Hi Luigi,

First I want to guide you to our documentation about permissions, take a look at https://documentation.riada.se/insight/latest/insight-administrator-s-guide/insight-permissions

Basically, you can set permissions on object type level, not on attribute level, but there is one exception.

Lets say that you create an Object Type called License, and you then set certain permissions for this object type.

Then You create another object type called Computer, and an attribute pointing to License. This attribute would only be visible for those who are allowed to see it.

So basically, make the license key part of an Licence object type, and change license key from being an attribute of type String to be an object reference to License instead. Set permissions for License and voila!

Best Regards
Alexander
