Calendar "tickler" planning functions/notifications in JIRA

I am a new JIRA user and I am interested in using it as a task manager. This includes, for instance, assigning dates for notifications, not just deadlines for tasks.

Is there any descriptive material about the calendar functions of Jira which I can read before asking specific questions?

This assumes you have Team Calendars for Confluence. Do you have that already?

Thank you for your answers.

I am afraid, however, that Confluence and the Team Calendar are not what I need. We are a small company and tracking team activities is not an issue.

I need a calendar to plan actions for individual employees, assign advance notifications of pending events and actions, etc. Perhaps I should look for another solution. I will appreciate if you have any hints.

By the way, notifications in advance of an event might be a meaninful functionality for your Team Calendar.

Indeed it is a good feature request for TC

Thinking that maybe we could make a plugin for Gmail - would have to look into. OR - perhaps one of our devs could write some code for extending the notifications in JIRA with some scheduling functionality. Seems possible.

Off top of my head, I can't think of anything else (that I have used with Atlassian tools).

But maybe someone else has an idea on this.
