We are trying to connect Ceptah Bridge to our JIRA instance but the SAML Plug in is preventing proper authentication and all attempts are being denied with a 401 Forbidden.
We have narrowed it down to the SAML plugin.
Is there some how that Ceptah can go through SAML for connection to JIRA??
Hi @Carl Dotson,
there are multiple SAML Plugins on the Atlassian Marketplace, vom different companies. Could you please let us know which one you are using?
Cheers,
Christian
P.S. I work for a Marketplace Vendor and our Plugin is the following: SAML Single Sign On (SSO) for Jira
Ofcourse…I should have included this information in the original request.
We are using the re:solutions SAML SingleSignOn for JIRA. Version 2.2.0

Hi @Carl Dotson,
Great to see that you use our Plugin. It looks like Ceptah Bridge tries to use the Jira API via basic authentication.
This only works if the User has a local password in Jira (or uses delegated LDAP). Once you get into Situations where there are no local passwords anymore, that becomes problematic.
The default solution to that is to implement a WebView that run's the User through the Single Sign On Process and then using the Session ID after that to use the API.
(For example if you use Outlook with Office 365 that's the Way it's usually done, same thing for example the Confluence Server App does it...).
If you don't mind, would you open a support request with us https://resolution.de/go/support and share a bit more information about your environment (which you may not want to do on a public forum). Then we may be able to suggest some alternatives & also involve Ceptah into that case, possibly this is a useful feature request for them - they'll surely run more often into this as it's a general restriction not just one of our plugin.
Cheers,
Christian

This issue is also probably what is affecting our ability to have GitHub and JIRA to place nice. :)
I'll open a support ticket with resolution.de. Thanks for the technical info! Much appreciated!
