Issues not displaying on map

Why are none of my issues from the backlog displaying on the User Story Map despite having been linked with the Epics (that are being displayed on the map). I am using custom issue types is this the reason?

Visualized are only issues of type Epic and Story.
If you want to display your certain Issue Type, use JQL instead of selecting a project when you create a map. e.g.
Example:
project = "your project key" AND type in (your Type)
