I thought it was possible to integrate JIRA and Subversion. But the latest version of the plugin just produces an error in the logs, nothing more.
So it seems there currently is no support for Subversion anymore in JIRA. It is also more or less impossible to submit this as an issue to Atlassian. I tried via ecosystem.atlassian.net to submit an issue taking the trouble to create yet another account for Atlassian. Unfortunately you then cannot submit issues as it is not possible to select the project. You can filter issue of the project but you cannot create new issues.
The JIRA Subversion plugin project seems to be abandoned. Is there an free alternative?
BTW, I think it would be better to remove the project. Now users will spend hours trying to get this to work and then trying to get support to find the project no longer exists.

Hi Onno,
The subversion plugin is still supported by Atlassian, and thus you can raise a support case on https://support.atlassian.com. Ecosystem is place to track the bugs and improvement. Apart from that, the svn plugin's version 0.10.11.1 is compatible with 5.2.6.
As for the stacktrace, I believe this might be related to the installation steps, whereby JIRA is unable to locate or load the subversion plugin dependency classes to startup the plugin. You may want to redo the installation of the subversion plugin according to the installation instructions. Take note of the steps for each distribution type (standalone/EAR WAR), and path of the lib directory (WEB-INF/lib).
Hope this helps.
The JIRA Subversion plugin project seems to be abandoned.
It is not abandoned. In fact the current master branch at the Git repository (for JIRA 5.1+) supports v2 plugin system (it does not need re-start) among other enhancements.
Is there an free alternative?
it is coming soon, I hope within a week it will be published.
