We want to convert one of our paid via Atlassian plugins to a free one. How can we acomplish that?

Absolutely fine, and several vendors have done this. For major or substantive transformations of an existing listing you can log a ticket in the Atlassian Marketplace JIRA project and we'll help you out directly with things like:

• appropriate notice and sunset periods for your customers (easier when going free!) 
• actual conversion of the listing
• what data to expect in reports as a result of transformation
