I have a workflow with 3 different transitions depending on the issue type. E.g., I have an issue type called "Questions" which goes to a simple flow and I have a full SDLC flow for another Dev issue type.
When someone submits and selects the specific type, want it to go to that workflow.
I'm using automation (free version) but I'm consuming all the 300 transactions allotted per month.
Any way right out-of-the box?
You don't need to do anything at all here.
The issue type is what determines which workflow the issue goes into. Most projects default to a simple "every issue type in here uses the same workflow", but the "workflow scheme" is intended to be used to say "bugs use flow 1, features use flow 2, dev tasks flow 3" and so-on.
So set up the workflows you need, set up a workflow scheme to map the project and issue type, and you're done.
OHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! (mind blown)... lol I didn't realize I could use multiple schemes for 1 project!! D'uh.... Ok got it. Will give it a run - I spent so much time trying to find a solution and it was right infront of me... Ok thanks SO much!

I don't think it's obvious or clear.
Even as someone who has been doing Jira Admin for <mumble> years, every time I open a project admin screen I think "there's a lot here". Even though I know what I'm looking for most of the time, it still stumps me regularly. I wish I could think of a way to simplify it without losing any of the power it has.

Thanks I felt like a huge "AHA" moment and like How did I not know that !!!! I used to administer Serena Business Mashups and think I had that concept in my mind that made me miss this totally - different schema totally. Phew! Now just have ... a LOT of work to do the other issue types... Thanks so much Nick - really appreciate the assist!

Ok created a simple one and added it to the workflow scheme and associated the issue types I wanted but when I created a new issue, selected the issue type for the new workflow, it still ends up in the main workflow. I checked the project to ensure that the workflow was associated and it is. I"M SO CLOSE lol can you help with what I may be missing?

Oh nevermind! Figured it out - new flow wasn't published... sigh.. it was greyed out but later when I did a bunch of checks and went back, the Publish was back and associated it and it's working!!! Good grief - that just opened up a whole new world for me lol been doing workarounds for the past year... Thanks Nick!!!
