Big Picture - Gantt and Roadmap Question

Is there a relationship between the Gantt view and Roadmap view?  I am wondering if content from the Gantt can be used in the Roadmap; or are they seen as two separate entities? One to manage the project and the other to overview the development of a product.

No, there is no relation between these two nor any linkage in the code that would make an auto-sync between them happen. 

However, considering we're talking about the same program, you can use data from its scope in both the Gantt and the Roadmap module. A Roadmap's objective may well be a Jira issue. See the video at the very bottom of this page.

Thanks for the answer....so what is the purpose of the gantt and roadmap.? Is one to manage the bau(business as usual) existing project and the other to manage the future state?

Kind of.

The Roadmap was meant to be a module allowing to have focus on a high-level planning (i.e. defining strategic commitments), while the Gantt is more of a tool for planning out tasks. Yet, the Gantt is quite flexible in these terms and may also be used as a roadmap spreading across months or even years.
