Custom event missing from Events

Henning Smith January 9, 2018

I have several custom events - one of which does not show up in the Events field when adding a Script Listener. Any idea why it would work fine for some of the custom events but not others? Any debugging or logging I can enable to find out what is causing it?

The event shows under Workflows and is being used there, just not visible when trying to add a Script Listener to send an email when it fires.

Hello Henning,

There is currently a bug in ScriptRunner that might be causing the problem you're seeing. You can check out the bug report here if interested.

The current workaround is to restart your JIRA instance, it should cause the event that isn't showing up to appear. If you still cannot see this event after restarting, could you let me know what version of SR and JIRA you're using?

Thanks Jenna,

Getting the Jira server rebooted will be painful as we have hundreds of people using the server around the globe. Is there any other way to get this resolved that will not require downtime?

Unfortunately we don't know of another workaround for this issue currently. What are your SR and JIRA versions?

Henning Smith January 12, 2018

Jira 7.4.2 Build 74004. SR 5.1.6

The good news is it seems our server did get rebooted after I logged the initial question and my event does now show up! So I can confirm that the workaround works.

Great! If you have this issue again I would suggest logging a request to the product support website. We'll be able to help you out faster and more securely there. :)

Hi Henning,

Just to clarify, this is not something that has a workaround as it's currently due to the way we cache the events for performance reasons.

We also can't programtically clear the cache otherwise we would have given you a script for that as a workaround.

As Jenna mentioned we'll look at fixing it in SRJIRA-2414 but until then all you do is unfortunately restart.

Hope this helps.

Is there a solution for a cloud instance?

I do not have the option to restart, or re-index cloud jira.

Hi,

still with the same problem,

where are the script runner moderators and support?  we are waiting a resolution

I think  starting the production server for each new custom event is not a solution

Hi Henning,

Another option that I have tested is to disable and enable Scriptrunner again from the apps section.

It works and I can see the events that were missing previously.

cheers,

Balkis
