Hi all,
So my use-case is:
A monthly rule that:
This works fine in that all my stories are cloned, but I cannot get the newly created Epic to link to them...
I have used the 'More options' to set:
"fields": {
"Epic Link": "{{createdIssue.key}}"
}
and also by using the custom field ID, but this never gets set...
If I dump the created issue key into e.g. the cloned item Summary then I do see the key of the newly created Epic, so 'createdIssue' is what I expect it to be (the new Epic)...
Any thoughts?
Regards,
Simon
This was a permission issue on setting the Epic Link!
Hi Simon,
Thanks for posting back the solution here! Yeah the rule actor user (who performs the rule actions like 'edit issue') needs to have the right permissions.
Cheers,
Andreas

@Simon Brooke / @andreas, I'm having a similar issue. What's the specific permission requirement for setting epic links? What I'm seeing is that a very small number of my available epics even show up in the available epics list.

Hi @Brett Nemeroff,
I can't actually remember, but I think it is the Link Issues permission...
I'm struggling to remember, but I think if you go to the issue you want to link to, then go to Edit, then Configure Fields, then 'where is my field' that can point you in the right direction...
