Using Jira for Automation (Cloud version) , is it possible to create an aggregated total where all points for stories, tasks or bugs assigned to an epic are summed and presented on Epics?
Sum it up addon is only tool I found that allow for specific requirements:
* Visible on Epic Issue
* Visible in Filters
* Works "with" Portfolio for Jira (when using Story Points for Sum it up)
The addon does not provide visualizations which other like Epic Sum Up and Sum Up for Jira do, but they do not provide a field visible in Filters.
I think this is tricky but you might achieve that using a SIL script custom field.
I've used it in the past to aggregate values from a number of children issues into the parent issue, not with epics, though.
Could be worth a try just in case but is not a sure thing by any means. Check it out https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/373929/sil-engine-for-power-apps?hosting=server&tab=overview

I'll suggest you to research the following: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?hosting=cloud&query=sum%20epic%20fields.
I'm a Jira Server user and don't know those first hand but judging by the descriptions some of those might do it.
Best of luck.

Hi Patrick,
Thanks for your question. I'm afraid not. We're tracking two improvements around this currently at https://codebarrel.atlassian.net/browse/AUT-225 and https://codebarrel.atlassian.net/browse/AUT-60.
Cheers,
Simeon [Automation for Jira]

Hi @[deleted]
The AUT-60 ticket is set to "deployed to Cloud", is it available in all Cloud instances? Is it documented somewhere how to use this aggregate function?
Thanks

@[deleted] @John McKiernan Is there any documentation on this?
It would be extremely helpful to have some documentation on how to sum the points of issues under an Epic and use that in an action to set a field value.

Hi @Gabriel Underwood ,
At the moment, this will only work for summing up the story points of subtasks. It will not work for summing up the story points of an epic. You can read a bit more about it here:
Hopefully we can get to sum up the story points of issues under an epic soon.

Can we PLEASE get an update on this. The last comment was back in JUNE. This shouldnt be too hard to develop and deliver. Or is there a Jira Automation or smart value we can use outside of going to the Epic report manually and seeing the total story points for the Epic

It would be great to get an update on this. It appears that summing up stories within an epic would be quite a useful feature to have.
