WBS Gantt Chart | Is there a way to set dependency for tasks from different projects?

Andranik September 11, 2019

In WBS Gantt Chart I would like to set a connection (dependency) between tasks which are in different projects.

Is there any way to do that without putting that tasks under the same epic ?

Note that the common way of setting the dependency by drag and dropping the items is not working.

Hello @Andranik

Thank you for the video provided, it helped us to fix a behavior that wasn't expected from the system.

The fix it's already available on Cloud platform.

Could you please try to set the dependency desired and check if you face any issues?

Please let me know if there's something else that I can help you with.

Cheers,
Álisson

Hello @Álisson Dalmago

The issue is still actual (partly fixed).

I have recorded one more video (available by the link below) to show the issue on my side:

Could you please have a look at it and let me know what is the issue now ?

Note that WBS Gantt-Chart version is updated to 1.0.6-AC.

Thanks,
Andranik

Hello @Andranik

Can you please expand all project hierarchy at this Gantt and check if these issues aren't already linked to other issues?

If the creation of dependencies is blocked, it is often caused by one of the two following reasons:

  • If the two tasks for which user want to create a dependency are in a hierarchical relationship
  • If the two tasks for which user want to create a dependency are already indirectly dependent

If some issues are collapsed, the dependency lines of these issues will not be displayed, but their dependency will be kept.

Please let me know your findings after expanding the issue hierarchy.

Cheers,
Álisson

Hello Álisson,

Thanks for the quick response.

I'm running Jira at Cloud. WBS Gantt-Chart version is 1.0.5-AC.

After some experiments I figured out that it is possible to make dependencies between projects (even if the tasks are not in the same epic) but not for the all cases.

I have recorded a short video (available by the link below) to show the issue on my side:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/j6cg9fyxfjmmll0/WBS%20Gantt-Chart%20-%20Heltun%20Jira%20-%20Mozilla%20Firefox%2016-Sep-19%2013_09_14.mp4?dl=0

Could you please have a look at it and let me know what is going wrong on my side ?

Thanks,
Andranik

Hello @Andranik

The dependency relation between issues in different projects it's available to be used through the drag and drop function.

Could you please inform me if you're running Jira at Cloud or server platform? If it's server, could you please inform your WBS Gantt-Chart version?

If you wish to have a private contact to help you on this issue, please get in touch with us at the link below:
