Why are Test issues prevented from creating sub-tasks?

We'd like to be able to create sub-tasks on our Test issues, but haven't found a way to do so in our main project. Is there a config we can alter? If it's intentionally not available, can you share the reasoning behind it? We'd like to have that ability.

Can you check if your system is allowing sub-tasks? Administration->Issues->Sub-tasks.

If it does, you can check the Issue Type Scheme for the project that you want to have the sub-tasks for. It may be that you have forgotten to add sub-tasks to that scheme.
