inline images not working in Thunderbird and mac mail

I followed the instructions:

https://thepluginpeople.atlassian.net/wiki/display/JEMH/Enable+Outbound+Inline+Images

on how to inline images, but still seeing broken images in Thunderbird and macmail. Has anyone has luck seeing comment images in their outbound emails?
