projectautomation - move ticket to other project

Sabrina Pfirschke January 22, 2020

Hi,

we are using Projectautomation for Jira.

In some cases we want to Move an issue from our Service Desk to an other Project.

I have not found an option to move a ticket.

Is there a possibility?

I don't want to clone the issue to the other project.

Thanks.

Sabrina

Nic is spot on.

We usually recommend customers Clone the issue into a new project and then either delete or resolve the original one.

You will loose history, create date, comments and attachments but for most people this is a workable solution (esp. if you link both tickets).

Cheers,
Nick

Moving an issue is a complex and painful thing to do in Jira, and should not be automated, as it should be happening only when you're doing restructuring, or you've made a genuine mistake.  The move process may need to ask the human doing it a LOT of questions.

So far, Automation has chosen not to do the huge amount of coding required for moving issues.  I would question the requirement for it, rather than try to do it.  (I know it hundreds of lines of code in Scriptrunner, prone to failure - I gave up trying to do it years ago, and Jira has got a lot more complex since then)
