I am unable to remove watchers from issues in our JIRA instance.  Below is an example, I have an issue with one name (me) in the Add Watchers field and this shows up as a single watcher.

I can click Stop Watching this issue, and the text changes to Start Watching this issue and the circle with the 1 in it changes color but keeps 1 there.  See below.  If I refresh the page I get back to the first window.

I also try to delete my name from the Add Watchers field, but I edit that field, delete my name, click the check mark and my name comes right back into the Add Watchers field.

Hey Doug,

I'm the creator and maintainer of the JIRA watcher field plugin.  Sorry you're having problems with the plugin.  I would have responded sooner, but, I had no idea this question was asked.

The concept of watchers is built into JIRA.  My plugin just interfaces with that mechanism.  If I'm understanding your problem correctly, it sounds like there might be something wrong with your JIRA installation/database.  If possible, can you try disabling the JIRA watcher field plugin and try to reproduce the problem?

Also, I have another user that might be experiencing an issue similar to yours.  You can find the ticket describing the but at https://bitbucket.org/rbarham/jira-watcher-field-plugin/issues/48/unable-to-remove-watchers-from-add.

Thanks!

Have you found any solution to this? I am seeing the same effect, and it is very weird. If I add someone else as a watcher, I can sometimes remove the original watcher, but then that added new watcher cannot be removed...

I would be happy if somebody solved this.
