Update Customer Request Type on Issue Type Change

David Hayward November 30, 2018

I realise this question, or a very similar one was asked earlier(https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Marketplace-Apps-questions/Update-Customer-Request-Type-on-Issue-Type-Change/qaq-p/618481) however I just want to press this a little further

I am assuming one Must have Request Types, and I have one request type per Issue Type. We using the Jira Hosted service. I need to be able to change the Issue Type, and have the Request type auto update. As I only have one Request Type per Issue Type I was hoping it would default. It does not.

SO, do I need Request type, or can I just unconfigure them all? What would I loose?

OR is there a way to auto default?

Are you manually moving the issue? Request Type is an option available during the move process.

We are manually moving status, but I don't really want to maintain Request Type & Issue Type as they match each other one for one. We have a simple small system. I was really hoping I could default it as it is a one for one relationship, or somehow not use Request Type at all

Request types are necessary if you want the customer to view their issues in the Customer Portal. If it's an internal use then you don't need it unless you want to further categorize something. This is also my opinion.
