Upgrade failed, non-functional system

I attempted the upgrade from 5.02 to 5.2 tonight, the install went through all steps with no errors. But upon launch, nothing happened.

I noticed the service wasn't upgraded to tomcat7.exe and was still trying to launch tomcat6.exe which was no longer in the installation directory.

Looking for a quick work around I renamed tomcat7 to tomcat6 which did launch, but then I got a wall of text starting with your upgrade has failed.
