Hi all,

Our test team in an attempt to get around having to duplicate tests that need to be run across multiple apps that are similar but have discrete code bases have tried to use the xray test execution to abstract the tests such that the same steps are abstracted to individual executes which substitute - environment, input and even app context.

While the idea in principle saves redundancy it does impact reporting and also moves away from having simple, granular test cases for each requirement or risk (what is a test if not validation of a risk- separate code bases means separate risk)

I believe I can work around the reporting challenges using the separation of concerns on principle but it seems wrong to abstract tests this way - because then they are not discrete tests. But I also understand the need to not have to duplicate the same test across all apps.

Has anyone tried to use test scenarios in xray or does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on the approach?
