Hi! :)
I installed the addon and tried to connect it with Slack, but just stopped at the page with list of needed permissions. The addon needs everything: public channels, private channels, even direct messages and posting on my behalf! That will make me to constantly watch myself to not accidentally post something somewhere in Slack to find it later attached to a Jira ticket. I also don't understand if the access is needed to *every existent* private channel or only for those I somehow directly allow to access after connecting? Combining with "not reviewed" from Slack team it makes me afraid a little bit.
Is there a way to connect the addon with less permissions probably by price of less functionality? I'd be pretty happy with only abilities to create issues from Slack and attach channels to the issues.
Welcome to the community! Can you let us know which Slack app you're referring to? There are a lot of different Slack options on Marketplace. 😊
Hi, sorry for that :) I thought that tag `addon-jiraslackintegration` is supposed to point community to the app I'm referring to. Actually I'm talking about that addon: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1216557/slack-jira-integration?hosting=cloud&tab=overview. Should I put that link to my original post?

Thanks for sending the link. I reviewed the app's documentation and didn't see anything about setting permissions - only notifications. My guess is that they are asking for permissions to send on channels where you request it (i.e. sharing a Jira link) but it's probably best to ask the vendor themselves if you're worried about it posting messages from Slack in tickets.
Here's their support information so you can raise a ticket with them directly in case you haven't already or email them at support@bitband.io.

Wow, thank you, I didn't find a way to contact them directly so raised a question in the community.

Not a problem! In case you ever need help with any apps in the future, there is a support tab listed on each app listing with their contact information :)
