I have a question regarding the 'units' option in gantt, structure. Is it possible somehow to have the time spent on the tasks to be displayed as days instead of hours?

Units represent a value that defines the "size" of a resource. By default, the value is 1, which corresponds to 1 person. Can you specify where exactly you want to see "time spent on the tasks to be displayed as days instead of hours" and perhaps provide some details on your use case?
