@mention in scaffolding (Text Data) in confluence doesn't trigger email

Have got scaffolding plugin version 8.18.1 installed in our woki instance (version 6.9.3). When user clicks in edit contents on the woki page and include @username inside "Text Data" macro (Rich text content type), it doesn't trigger email. Any suggestions on how we can achieve this. Any work around?
