When I can understand company is ready for Lean Portfolio Management?

Great question! Usually, it's in very large companies. Two things to look for:

1. Are the product managers facing complex challenges in building their backlogs? That is, are they getting requests for changes from different businesses or markets, or is their product used with other products in the overall customer experience? Balancing these competing needs and prioritizing them is hard, and this is where added leaders focused on the portfolio backlogs of investments can improve clarity and alignment.
2. Is there already a portfolio leadership team that handles the intake of new projects/initiatives/portfolio epics? Are they trying to get out of spreadsheets? Do they need better visibility into how the work is progressing on their in-flight initiatives?

These are two examples of where the teams-of-teams building products can benefit from the added support of LPM.

How do you get a sense for if your organization needs to transition from using Advanced Roadmaps to Jira Align?

Is any data migration required when moving from one to the other?
