TLDR
When i delete an account, what happens to the site domain (eg https://mysite.atlassian.net/)
MY STORY
hi,
i got 2 accounts lets name then A and B:
A is fairly old and uses only bitbucket AFAIK, the other i just created recently to give the free plans for jira and confl. a spin. however, for B i added a site domain, ie https://mysite.atlassian.net/.
After feeling satisfied with my test drive i wanted to merge both accounts just to find out that this is not possible, nor can i change the emails to the same of the other account:
> Your email change request could not be processed because a-account@email.com is already associated with another Atlassian account.
Ok, i thought: B just contains test data; let's delete it :muhaha:
but before i did, it occurred to me: gee, i'd like to use https://mysite.atlassian.net/. on A!
So here comes the question for you:
$(goto: TLDR)
BONUS QUESTION
Note: i guess there is also the option to delete A and move the bitbucket repos to B beforehand. However, this seems like more work and also i bet i will lose the back links to my repos and other interaction of my user in A, right ?
Hi Thomas,
Thanks for using Atlassian Community.
For a short answer, you cannot delete the account that created the atlassian.net site until a new account is promoted as the site owner, the site cannot be orphaned. Your Atlassian Account is separate from the actual products in Atlassian cloud but it should be possible to merge your Bitbucket and atlassian.net access into one Atlassian Account.
To provide more context on that :
Atlassian cloud uses a centralized identity service in https://id.atlassian.com. Here, an end user will have a single account identified by a unique email address. That Atlassian Account is the user's online identity and it it used for access into different cloud sites and services.
You basically have 2 Atlassian Accounts at the moment. The email address change failed because the target is already existing in the Atlassian Account space.
We cannot automatically merge the 2 accounts (see ID-240) but I'de go with your Bonus Question route as Bitbucket will be able to handle an email address re-association.
Here's how you can do it :
After the change :
I hope this helps.

Ramon

i guess this approach would have worked. on the other hand i noticed i wanted to cleanup and restructure my repos, so in the end i moved them manually to the new account
