GitHub's web interface already supports editorconfig files which is handy when viewing diffs for code which use an other than 4-space tab setting. This formatting definition file is supported by a lot of apps and platforms already, you can see a complete list on this page:
The problem I'm facing is that when viewing diffs in SourceTree for a project that uses tabs with an 8-space width, nothing is lined up correctly. On GitHub the diff is viewable without a problem (because it reads an editorconfig file when present). And in my editor (Visual Studio Code) everything is lined up correctly because I'm using an editorconfig plugin.
Hi
Thanks for the suggestion, can I request that you create a ticket here: https://jira.atlassian.com for the potential improvement and we can review it.
