I'm using the same submodule accessible from two different repos. Each reference the same submodule. When I open a submodule from the left tab under Submodules, a new submodule horizontal repo tab appears on the top bar and its cloned. If I open this same submodule in a different repo, a duplicate horizontally tabbed name appears for its clone. The trouble is after a while I have no idea which submodule is associated where. I was hoping to simply change its tabbed name so I could prefix it with its parent repo name.
I discovered a work-around for this one.
Now, even if you close the tab, when you re-open it, it will retain the name you gave it!
I'd like to bump this question.
We use the submodules features extensively, and not knowing which is the parent repo of a submodule has caused confussions and mistakes. We've even considered migrating to other apps like SmartGit or Git Extensions, but having this in Sourcetree would be super nice.
