New SourceTree version 1.9.x too slow

This new version of sourcetree is painfully slow. I keep going into command line whenever the working folder view 'hangs' for no reason. In some cases only 2-3 files changed and it is way too slow. I'm not sure what is it trying to do differently but your previous version was so much faster. Please help!

At this point it seems I may even need to go back and restore one of your older versions. This is too painful.
