Is Atlassian listening to user requests? (such as bringing back nested bookmarks)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Terry Holmes July 4, 2018

Does Atlassian publish a "coming features" notification?
Sourcetree has lost some very handy features over time, and by the sound of the forum, we all want some of them back!
I use Sourcetree for revision control of binary files (large CAD files), and I have dozens of repositories!
Even though the performance improvements sound fantastic, I won't budge from 1.5.2.0 because I can't cope without nested bookmarks!

Hi Terry,

Yes, we're absolutely listening and take our users' feedback seriously.

As a small team of engineers we're doing our best to balance sustaining and improving Sourcetree while supporting our millions of users. There's not a dedicated "coming features" notification or a published roadmap currently but we are increasing our transparency using Community.

We started a discussion thread in May which details our proposal about returning functionality many miss from the Windows 1.9.x release series, specifically the tree view (and nested folders by extension I believe.) I'll be updating that shortly with mockups and additional details.

Thank you for letting us know your frustrations; hopefully this assuages your concerns a bit. We'd love it if you join our public beta program and when it ships later this year provide feedback to make sure we deliver the best experience possible.

Thanks Brian.
Can't do beta at work (per risk to configuration management), but I do have a test installation at home.  I may join beta for that.  Thanks again.

As a small team of engineers

@bgannin, may I ask how small the team is? Your definition of a small team might not align with everyone else's definition of a small team (especially in a company the size of Atlassian) 🙂

Knowing how big/small the team would help guide our expectations.

I wouldn't factor in Atlassian's size when thinking about Sourcetree - it's a free product done by a single team across two OS platforms. This is what should guide expectations, as well as a bit of empathy for fellow developers.

When I say small, think of it the same way you would any team because there's no such thing as a "small" team that's going into double digits (or significant ones) in any size company unless they're poorly structured.
