+1 for Linux, there has been so many requests but I'm shocked why still it has not been ported for this community.

Why not just open source it and let the community manage the platform differences?

Its has been almost 4 years since the first request for a linux version. Please Atlassian, ship a Linux version! I know you have limitations with porting existing code, and maintaining a 3rd code base for Linux is taxing but look at all the interest from these die hard users! You know how nerds are, when we like something we never let it go, make us happy!

Make it OpenSource and build focus on building SourceTree add-ons that expand on other Atlassian products. You will be rewarded and all will rejoice.

For some time now, we have been waiting for Atlassian to get cracking on a Linux version of the SourceTree client. While we wait, they act so soft by not taking serious action to address the needs of the Linux user community.
Atlassian probably wants all of its user base to migrate over, en masse exodus, to the cross-platform Axosoft GitKraken client; that way, they can sunset the existing Windows and Mac SourceTree clients and eventually be done with them.
Maintaining and supporting the two existing SourceTree clients just takes away from Atlassian's bottom line, and so the company would be loathe to add the headache of supporting another port of the SourceTree client.

I don't know why they haven't done this... it would be so easy: Just open a terminal in Linux, run "vi", paste in the source code, and save as "source-tree-linux.cpp". Then you would need need the right compiler option; I think its "gcc -wxx" to cross-compile windows code for Linux.

Just going to say it, I am now using GitKraken and I nearly forgot I ever was interested in SourceTree.
Enjoy.
Also, Atlassian, seriously. We expect more. HipChat is neat, imho, I like Slack better but use both. Now I am going to use something other than SourceTree because you apparently don't care to support one of the largest and most capable user bases out there (with your graphical git client).

Checked out GitKraken. Now requires an account for all users. I'm not comfortable with that.
