I don't know what stops you maybe something related to licensing?
+1 windows doesn't handle some characters in files correctly, so i'd hate to have to emulate/vm windows just to sourcetree on my very powerful bare metal ubuntu install, it make sense that there should be a sourcetree for ubuntu (debian) and maybe other distros too (ubuntu/debian first, kind of biased here)

+1 please consider it Atlassian, look at the growth of Linux Development, particularly encouraged by JetBrains IDE's and now Swift going cross-platform. Sourcetree is the best graphical Git manager out there: I would pay for it on Linux.
