SourceTree pestering me for my password

Ethan Reesor January 13, 2015

Since Pageant doesn't load my keys on launch after a reboot, some times I try to use sourcetree without my keys loaded. Obviously, authentication fails and sourcetree asks for the password for the git user. When I hit cancel, the dialog comes back up. I have to cancel something like 10 times before it finally gives up. This is absurd and quite fantastically annoying.

When I cancel the password dialog, SourceTree should immediately abandon efforts to use password authentication. It makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE for the password dialog to reappear when I've CANCELLED it.

Please fix this.

I was planning on improving this (and have done in the past). If you could log a post on jira.atlassian.com I could take a look into it.

Cheers

You might check out this blog post:

Otherwise, bugs can be reported at jira.atlassian.com. This is a community Q&A site, and most of us (myself included) have no control over SourceTree code.
