I did hear back from Atlassian, and they are very aware of the need for this, as well as this thread. They said that they couldn't go into details at this time, but there are some things that are preventing them from porting the software over to Linux at this time. I appreciate all that Atlassian does, and respect their position, with the hope that whatever is holding this back at the moment will be able to be addressed at some point in the future :)
