How can I turn off Dark Mode for Trello?

there should be a button with a half colored in circle at the top right corner of your screen next to your avatar - click that and select light mode

I do not see a button like you describe. Can you send a screenshot?

Klick on your Icon in the top right corner. A menu will appear- Click 'design'. Now choose bright, dark or auto mode.

On the desktop app, it's under Theme after you click the icon.

It's now under "theme". Very hard to find this setting when searching the internet because it was first rolled out as a dark/light circle icon, then switched to "design" and now switched to "theme" (as if dark or light is a theme?)...so the search results are all over the place. UX: 3 versions, each less intuitive than the last? Not good.
