it looks like EAP is already closed for now so when we can expect this to go live? I've checked cloud roadmap, but this EAP is only followed by another EAP in Q3, but there is no sign of this update going live before full experience in Q4. So, will this change go live together with all other changes in Q4, or is there any possibility to get this one sooner? One of our customers really need to do full scale backups on their own servers, but currently possibilities are very limited and doing manual backups for rest of the year is quite difficult job to do.

Hello Everyone, The EAP was run as a closed group. We are looking at a GA by Dec 2024. Please feel free to email me at lbehl@atlassian.com for any further discussion. Thanks!
We were told that the ‘New backup and restore experience - Beta’ feature was released in Q2 of this year, but we can't find it on admin.atlassian.net. Please advise.

I am currently working on a PowerShell script, which calls the Confluence- and Jira- Backup-APIs. Whereas Confluence works smoothly, Jira is giving me a hard time. It was mentioned that you are working on an API. Any chance to get a first glimpse on it or beeing included in the EAP?
atlassian support directed me to this group. (they acknowledged that the registration for this group is closed though)
we have a problem, being not able to restore our backup (100+gb xml before compression) using well known utilities (UI or API). first, one can not upload the to large compressed restore file (10gb limit by atlassian jira restore UI) and even if this limit is lifted (by support) there is a 3 day restore time limit (which hard set).
i hope the updates towards atlassian jira backup/restore are open for more larger restore objects.
Built-in backups for Jira and Confluence Cloud have long been insufficient for larger sites (for instance last July we had over 2.5TB in Jira attachments and our overall Confluence site was 1.3TB, which support told me was "huge"... one of the largest instances they'd ever seen)...
When it is finally released, will the new backup and restore solution be an Enterprise-only offering?
Will the new backup and restore be a otherwise paid offering? This would be an interesting and unfortunate change since historically Jira and Confluence Cloud have included Backup manager as part of its included features.
[While I recognize that disk space is not free, and 14 days of storage of TBs of data could certainly quickly get expensive, I wonder why you could not continue to offer the now disappeared BRIE APIs for companies who have technical expertise, fast Internet, AND abundant and cheap local or AWS storage where they could download and store their own backups.]
@Darryl Lee , I appreciate your links showing that switch on the beta to requiring the Enterprise plan. I had missed that and now I have the same questions as you. And a slew of my own questions. Hopefully someone replies to you.
FYI, I can't locate any answers, or comments, or guidance about backup and restore from Atlassian since August 2024.
The last Atlassian official comment on this post was June 13, 2024.
In January I made a post in the Backup & Restore private group, linking to the roadmap and asking "Now, Q4 2024 has passed and it doesn't appear that the feature made it to Beta. When can we expect the Beta for this feature or an accurate roadmap for the expectation of Beta?". My post/question hasn't received any response from Atlassian and the roadmap hasn't been updated.
@Darryl Lee@Sonya McNeely Thank you for following up here, we received correspondence from Atlassian announcing this grand new Backup & Restore feature (that we've all been following & looking forward to for years now): You will automatically gain access to our new backup and restore solution in closed beta, allowing you to continue to backup and restore your product data without interruption. The new backup and restore experience UI can be found in admin under 'Settings' and then 'Data management.' You can begin taking backups using the new solution as of today.
The old backup solution is no longer running either, meaning they've lampooned us with the sole option of creating one backup per week. That is wholesale unacceptable from a DR perspective.
All this after blatantly lying to customers for years promising this awesome, new backup solution. Just...outrageous. No words....
Are there any options for getting regular backups??
@Jason M_ There are indeed several companies that offer backup solutions for Jira and Confluence. Of course, they're not free. Off the top of my head here's the ones I know of:
ALSO, it's important to remember that Atlassian is apparently making this an Enterprise-only feature. Maybe they'll also offer it as an paid add-on for us middle-class customers?

Hello @Jason M_ there are third-party backup and disaster recovery solutions that support regular backups. For example, GitProtect backup & DR software for Jira Cloud (as well as Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab, and Azure DevOps): https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1228719/gitprotect-io-for-jira-backup-restore-dr-data-management?hosting=cloud&tab=overview . With the solution, it's possible to schedule and automate backups, follow the 3-2-1 backup rule, have long-term retention, ransomware protection, meet compliance needs, restore data fully or granularly to the same or a new account, local instance, etc.
are you sure that the new backup manager is only for enterprise. I asked the atlassian team some months ago and they said that at first it will be available for enterprise customers, but later on (maybe June 2025) the closed beta will include also premium plans.
Were did you get the informations from that it will only be included for enterprise plans?
I evaluate multiple 3rd party vendors and their backup solutions. They all have one issue: No restore of Meta-data (issuekeys, page or issue history, etc.). In my opinion that it is a huge problem for DR, because after an restore the data may not be complete. But for BC the tools are fine.
