Happy Miscellaneous Monday! Let's talk about stickers.
I'm a big fan of decorating pretty much anything with new stickers. Every surface is a canvas waiting to be filled with artistic flair. And it is so satisfying to peel off the backing and place a sticker just right!
We also have sticker minimalists, prefering the sleek look of a bare laptop. Or maybe they haven’t found the right stickers that resonate with them. Or maybe they just dislike fun. Kidding, kidding! 🙂
So, where do you stand? Are you a sticker collector or a sticker minimalist? If you are a sticker collector, let’s see your stickers!
Here are my laptops/stickers, both newer so I don’t have many stickers yet. So, I’m on the lookout for great stickers!
Also, a fun fact, National Sticker Day is a thing and it is January 13th. I should have signed up for that date!
I have sticker commitment issues sometimes too! Gotta find just the right spot!
I had a problem figuring out where to stick stickers on my old laptops, but I'd delegate and have someone else stick them on for me 🥹
Yep, great topic! For the most part I am a minimalist - meaning I have a few but but the laptop is not completely clean. I love the idea of having stickers for laptops though - it's a great "advertising" platform.
As a self-proclaimed sticker collector with absolutely zero free space left on my laptop (seriously, it's a walking sticker museum at this point), I totally relate! I’d attach a photo, but my laptop’s practically screaming, “Please, no more stickers!” 😂 Guess I’m a living example of why external hard drives exist, right?
Happy belated National Sticker Day to all my fellow sticker fanatics! 🖤
Me personally, I can't stand the thought of sticking anything on a piece of nicely designed computing hardware. Just thinking about the residue they leave when trying to get them off again makes me shudder. 😉
But, I do definitely collect stickers and I also hand them out a lot at events.
@Lacy Saute If you'd like, send me your address and I'll mail some out to you. 😊
Heh, I've definitely invested in sticker residue removal chemicals... 🤣
For me it have to be the right stickers, otherwise I won't put them on my laptop.
It's funny but thanks to this post I realized that the only place I do put stickers is on my laptop :)
I currently only have 2 stickers (we might be getting new laptops soon so I don't want to waste my collection of stickers on a laptop I might not have for long)
I have the same epic sticker on one of my water bottles! 🫶
@Lacy Saute thanks for the post!
I am definitively a collector. After Team '24 I went out and bought a sticker album just to ensure my collection of Atlassian and Atlassian ecosystem stickers had a proper home. I have been adding to it ever since with the stickers I have received from events and community milestones.
I also reserve a small batch of stickers for my laptop - but those have extra special significance to me. I recently bought a new laptop and painstakingly removed the stickers from my old laptop and transferred them to my album.
Love this! Sticker album is a great idea! I still have my old laptop mostly because of the stickers.
Good times! I've been a sticker collector for awhile now. The only sad thing about when I'm due for a new machine at work is that I need to start from scratch again. Never had the heart to try and remove the old stickers, I know I'm going to rip em.
Right!? Definitely a sad day. It breaks my heart but at the same time I get excited for the possibilities!
Wow, it's actually never occurred to me to put a sticker on my work laptop. It's company property, so I don't think they would appreciate it. I come from the days where you risked your security deposit if you hung things on the walls of your apartment.
Also, I work from home, so my laptop never leaves the room I work in, so no one would see them anyway.
I recently successfully removed some stickers from an old laptop I was passing down to my kiddo by using some fancy glass cleaner. Worked like a charm!
I keep a broken refrigerator in my garage because it has 20+ years of conference stickers.
I saw someone post a hack for something similar. In their camper, they added plexiglass on the side of the fridge to use for all of their state/national park stickers so they could move it with them to the next camper. Can you just move your refrigerator doors to the next one? LOL! JK (For future stickers - plexiglass?)
I like stickers, but only if they fit into some kind of collection or follow a specific style. Back in 2022, I got a couple of Atlassian stickers at a conference in London, but they were huge—definitely not laptop-friendly.
Then, last year, I decided to play around with vector programs and make my own stickers from the official press kit. I can just say that, when my laptop went in for service recently, I missed those stickers so much! 😅
*I'm thinking about a refreshed version but I just need to find a better paper for the next version
I used to hate putting stickers on anything I owned, but within the last year I realized it doesn't matter :) It just shows that the item is mine and customized to what I like. So now I put stickers on everything!
I used to be a sticker collector - had SO many stickers covering my laptops. Nowadays I tend to keep my hardware clean! 🤣
