User Journey and Userflow

Areski February 18, 2023

Hi,

I'm working on a student project to improve the functionalities of an existing app, which is an opportunity to put into practice the different phases of design and learn how to improve the user experience. I would like to know if the user journey and user flow should be designed based on the existing application and its current state, or based on user feedback?

Thanks.

In what sense?  What has this got to do with Atlassian applications?

In general though, user journey and flows should be abstracted from the application, and defined as "what we would like to happen", then compared with what does.  User feedback is a part of that, but so is what the application does now (as a comparative point - you can use the current state as a "straw man" to let people point at bits of it that work well, could be improved, or are dreadful)

I asked my question in the off-topic section since there are many UX there, so I don't see why I couldn't take this opportunity. Thank you for your answer, it's really helpful for me.
