Throwback Thursday: your favorite teacher? #TBT

It's Thursday!

This is Sigga. Well, that is her nick name. Her real name is Sigríður but we always called her Sigga. She was my teacher for 5 or 6 years. We go to know her pretty well. She was a great teacher. Patient yet would push us to our limits to help us grow.

Fun bonus story: after my wife and I moved back to Iceland in 1999, we bought a house close to the school I went to. So my oldest 2 kids went to the same school as I did. And both of them had Sigga as a teacher for a little bit :)

Ms. Silver, my 11th and 12th grade English Composition and Literature Teacher was one of the mentors that had the greatest impact on my life. She brought the material to life and made us all want to read the books rather than get by with the Cliffs Notes. She challenged us to analyze the works of literary giants and look at them from multiple angles. She taught us that critical thinking was critical to success in life. She turned writing into an artform rather than an exercise.

I kept up with her for a year or two after high school, but we lost touch. She left the school the year after I graduated to take a job at a prestigious boarding school in North Carolina. I know she married and likely has a different last name now, but Ms. Silver, if you ever read this, THANK YOU!

I'm probably one of the happiest people when it comes to school memories because I don't recall having any bad teachers—honestly, I think they were all great! However, our History teacher was truly one of the best. She made the subject so engaging and vivid that we didn’t even need to study—we just absorbed everything right there in class.

I also had a similar experience to you, @Kristján Geir Mathiesen . At my school, I had two teachers who had also taught my dad, as well as my uncle and aunt :)

Like @Daria Kulikova_GitProtect_io, I had some pretty good teachers throughout my school years, but Daria made me think about one of my history teachers, Mr. Dupre. For our unit on World War 2, he told us about when his plane was shot down over Berlin and what happened after that. He made it real for us.

Mrs. Rowe, 6th grade teacher.  She always gave us pictures to color.  Yes ~ we were "too old" for that, but it was a treat to hold onto some of that while we were venturing into "older kid territory".  She was also just a compassionate, caring person.

My favorite teachers were math/computer science teachers in high school - Mr. Wilcox and Mr. Riesner.

They both loved being teachers and loved their subjects. Their enthusiasm for their subjects made their classes interesting and fun

I always love reading favorite teacher stories. I hope that I make the list of favorite teachers for some of my former students!

My favorite teacher was Mr. Hanser in 5th grade. He was the first teacher that really held us to higher expectations and nudged us into that next phase of the tween years. I also have very fond memories of a high school teacher, Mr. Destache, I had for both AP Statistics and my programming classes.

I often think back to the many teachers who played a significant role in my life. They always encouraged me and believed in my potential, which made a lasting impact on my journey. It's a shame that we no longer have contact, as their guidance and support were invaluable. I cherish those memories and hope to reconnect someday to express my gratitude for their influence.

Hello to all

My favorite teacher was the math teacher, she was an exceptional person, empathetic and an excellent professional.
Today after 40 years we are still in contact by Whatsapp because she lives in the US and I live in Europe, we talk every week and I have so many wonderful memories of her
She is part of my life and of course I have indelible memories and experiences that will stay with me forever.

Regards
