Add Bitbucket licensing to existing cloud licensing for Jira/Confluence

Rory Geoghegan June 5, 2022

My enterprise has a license for cloud versions of Jira and Confluence while for BitBucket we are using a BitBucket server license.

Not everyone is aware of the BitBucket server offering so it's meant staff have gone out and created their own BitBucket cloud instances and personally linked them to the enterprise instance of Jira and Confluence.

Asking two questions:

1. What is the process for adding BitBucket to our enterprise account?

2. Is there an additional cost per user/month and if so how much?

Any guidance provided is much appreciated and thanks in advance

Hello @Rory Geoghegan ,

Thank you for reaching out to Atlassian Community.

Currently the Bitbucket Cloud licenses are billed separately from Jira/Confluence and you can manage the billing directly on the bitbucket website.

Just to give you a background, the billing in bitbucket is done at the workspace level. A workspace is a place where you can create your repositories, projects, and share the code with your team. There are two kinds of workspaces :

  • Personal workspace: the workspace we create for every user when they sign up on bitbucket. This workspace is attached to the user's e-mail address and is owned by the user, and it's usually used for personal stuff.
  • Shared workspace: this workspace is usually used for companies/teams and the owners of a shared workspace are all the users that are in a group with Administrator access.

So in your case, I would suggest creating a shared workspace for your company and have the users to transfers their repositories to this shared workspace. You can then upgrade the shared workspace to one of the Bitbucket Cloud plans - Standard or Premium. Bitbucket defines cost based on the number of users who have access to private repositories within your workspace.

You can check the plan and pricing in the following links :

Hope that helps! Let me know in case you have any questions.

Thank you, @Rory Geoghegan .

Kind regards,

Patrik S
