We want to create an application link from our Jira Server Instance to our Bitbucket Cloud. So we see in our Jira Instance the commit messages from our Bitbucket Cloud instance.
Our Bitbucket cloud is already linked with our Jira Cloud instance. Can we now additionally add our Jira Server instance also?
Is it possible to create an app-link to several Jira instances?
Thanks a lot for your help :)
Hello Henry,
You asked if it is possible to have multiple Jira instances (Cloud and Server) linked to your single BitBucket Cloud instance. The short answer is, Yes!
Here is the long answer:
While you may have multiple Jira instances linked to your single BitBucket server you may only have one Jira instance set as a primary linked server. The reason for this is due to conflicts if more than one Jira instance has a project with the same key. For Example:
Jira Instance 1 has a project with a KEY of "GOTEAM" and is set as primary.
Jira Instance 2 has a project with a KEY of "GOTEAM" and is NOT set as primary.
BitBucket will ONLY display commits from Jira Instance 1 (Project key GOTEAM) as it is set as the primary. Commits from Jira Instance 2 (Project key GOTEAM) will not be displayed due to the key being a duplicate.
Any other commits from either Jira instance that do not have matching Keys will be displayed within BitBucket.

I hope you find this helpful and it answers your questions, please let us know if you need further information.

Hello @Henry Auffahrt
Yes, you should have no issues linking a single Jira Cloud site to multiple separate Bitbucket Cloud workspaces.
You may follow the steps below to link Bitbucket Cloud with Jira Cloud: https://support.atlassian.com/bitbucket-cloud/docs/connect-bitbucket-cloud-to-jira-software-cloud/
I hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Karthick S
