Every once in a while I need to grant read access to a user but I want to restrict them to a single branch. Is this possible?

Hello @JBonavita,

No, this is not possible: repository is the minimal unit for read access. Neither Git nor Mercurial have a concept of partial cloning of the repository. Bitbucket follows this concept in terms of access to the source in the web UI. What you can do on the branch level in Bitbucket is restrict write access — this is called branch permissions.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers,
Daniil

Hi @JBonavita ,

Unfortunately there isn't a way to restrict a user to a single branch. However, you can play around with branch permissions which might provide some insights to solve your problem in a different way.

Cheers
