Bitbucket Cloud - yet another commit checker

angelaaa November 14, 2021

Hey all,

We want to migrate our bitbucket server to use bitbucket cloud.

we currently use the "yet another commit checker" plugin to attach commits to Jira tickets.

We want to save this option after the migration,

This plugin seems to be available only on the server/Data-center.

Is there another plugin that is similar? or is It built in?

Thanks.

Bitbucket Cloud would need a pre-commit checker to validate references to Jira tickets - https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/BCLOUD-10471

@Shana can you advice on a timeline when this check will be available?

Thanks, Ulrich

Yet Another Commit Checker is only available for Bitbucket Server and Data Center, and there’s no built-in equivalent in Bitbucket Cloud.

The good news is that there’s a new solution purpose-built for the cloud that comes as alternative to Yet Another Commit Checker: Better Commit Policy for Jira Cloud, together with the Better Commit Policy Connector for Bitbucket Cloud.

This pair of apps lets you define and enforce commit message rules (like requiring a Jira work item key), validate those Jira links, control source and destination branches, and even block non-compliant commits via a pull request merge check — all in Bitbucket Cloud.

It's a natural fit for teams migrating from Server/DC and looking to maintain the same level of control and traceability.

Might be worth a look if you're aiming to carry your commit policy practices over to the cloud!
