invalid username or password on recovery_codes

Lost my device that had 2FA configured. Trying to create recovery codes by 

ssh git@bitbucket.org recovery_codes

It asks for password. On providing password it returns invalid username or password. 

Im sure of the password im using. I have used it several times

That's no good! Are you able to use that password to log in into Bitbucket to get to the 2FA page? Either way, go ahead and contact support. They should be able to help you unlock your account.
