Access groups not maintained by Space Admins?

Nitin S_ Joshi January 15, 2025 edited

With our transition to Confluence Cloud, Space Admins can no longer manage Confluence groups to add or remove users, which prevents them from controlling access to their spaces. They now have to manually add users one by one or contact a Site Admin to have users added to groups.

Previously, Space Admins had this capability in the Data Center version.

Will this feature be reinstated? Why was it removed? This change places a significant burden on Site Admins and complicates the process of tracking user access.

Any information on this matter would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi @Nitin S_ Joshi

Permissions changed a lot between DC and cloud, so much so that there is a whole certification for it :)

Managing groups is available as a Confluence Admin and Site Admin, so if you are ok with adding Space Admins as Confluence Admins they will be able to manage groups again.

If not, then it is a burden on the Site and Confluence Admins.
